TEHRAN — Iran is prepared to annually export up to one billion cubic meters of drinking water to its southern neighbors in the Persian Gulf region, an official with the nation’s Ministry of Power said, according to ISNA.

Based on earlier agreements reached with a number of the Persian Gulf littoral states, Iran’s Ministry of Power has decided to upon request, export about one billion cubic meters of water to the countries per annum, the Iranian official announced.

Iran has in the past expressed its readiness to supply the Persian Gulf states with parts of their required drinking water, he further added further added, ISNA news agency reported.

He also commented that in addition to its financial significance for Iran, the issue is of high importance in many aspects. RA/ END MNA
